promoting independent mobility and physical fitness

Pediatric physical therapy focuses on helping children of all ages become as independent and fit as possible with respect to strength, endurance, balance, coordination and mobility across all environments - including home, community, school, and playground. The physical therapists at Pediatric Therapies, drawing from expertise in a variety of intervention approaches, focus on large motor and functional skills to enhance development, restore function, and prevent disability from pediatric conditions, illness, or injury. Intervention is also aimed at the prevention of injury by teaching proper use of the body during movement, as well as how to move safely and efficiently while at work or play. Our physical therapists often make recommendations regarding the use and fit of adaptive equipment as well as other accommodations to enhance proper positioning, skill acquisition, or increased mobility in an effort to further promote functional independence. The PTs at Pediatric Therapies focus on the following areas:

* Gross Motor Development
* Strength/Endurance
* Posture/Postural Control
* Gait and Other Mobility Patterns
* Neuromuscular Issues
* Musculo-skeletal Conditions
* Wheelchair Positioning and Mobility
* Other Mobility Devices
* Environmental Modifications
* Splinting/Orthotics
